Why PoP Ganesha idols?

This is not a tarle story.

Posting this in public interest.

How magnificiently we celebrate Ganesha festival! We bring home Ganesha idols, worship, and then do the visarjan.
Some bring some small clay Ganesha Idols and some bring big one . Usually Sarvajanik Ganapathis are the big ones. These idols' size vary from 4-15 feet.

Ever wondered, what happens to these idols after their immersion or the Visarjan?

They melt right?

I too had the same thought.

We are wrong friends. Only the small clay idols melt. The bigger one are made of Plaster-Of-Paris (PoP). The same material which is used to dress up a bone fracture. This PoP doesn't dissolve in water, They are brittle. They only break.

Now, think what might be the condition of the PoP idols which were immersed in tanks, ponds, lakes etc..

I was passing by the Sanky tank. I thought of spending some time there.
Some people were cleaning the Idol immersion tank there.
I was very unfortunate to see the condition there.
This is what I saw.

These are PoP idols with broken head, broken hands, legs, fingers. 7-10 men struggling to get it out of the tank.

What next? They'll take this and dump it somewhere else.

Why??
Why such big statues? Why PoP idols? Why are we hurting our own sentiments?

Feels sorry to post this. But I had to post to create an awareness.

Let us stop using PoP idols. Let's save the environment. And above all, Let's respect our God.

The world is beautiful..... Norway.... Land of midnight sun..

What we studied since our school days was, THE SUN RISES IN THE EAST AND SETS IN THE WEST. THE SUN IS VISIBLE FOR ABOUT 12 HOURS IN A DAY. Did you'll know there are some places on earth where the sun never sets. Its stays for all 24 hours of the day. Norway is one such country. It is also called as land of mid night sun. The pic shows the movement of sun in this country. Yes the world is beautiful!
