Wrong Number

Hello readers. You all might be having cell phones. Of course these days its very important. You receive calls, you make calls, you send SMS, and you receive SMS, browse and do what not. You stay in touch with everyone. There’s no doubt, cell phone is very useful.
So you’ll might have received wrong numbers also. But have you ever received wrong number asking for yourself????

Well, I keep on receiving such calls. I get calls asking for Vishal from unknown people.
3-4 months back I received a call from an unknown number. It was a lady.

Lady: Hello!!
Me: Hello.
Lady: Vishal, when are you coming? Where are you?
I was totally confused.
Me: Hello, may I know who this is??
Lady: It’s Vishal right??!!
Me: Ya.
Lady: Hey, it’s me Sunanda yaar.. Come as soon as possible.
I couldn’t understand what was going on. I knew one Sunanda. Sunanda Madival, the one who worked in our Gas agency. But she didn’t know English. But she was trained to speak a few lines in English. So I thought it was Sunanda Madival.
Me: Ha, tell.
Lady: When are you coming?
Me: By the end of this month….. ( I was supposed to go to Karwar by the end of that month)
Lady: Are you joking. Look Vishal come here by today evening..
Me: Ha ha, nice joke ha..
Lady: Vishal, stop kidding.
I realized that it wasn’t a trained English.
Me: Hello, who’s this???
Lady: its Vishal right? Wipro Vishal??
Me: ya I’m vishal. But not wipro vishal.
Lady: sorry sir, wrong number.
How can this happen? How can she dial a wrong number to another Vishal? Strange…

After about 2months received another call. This time from another number.
Me: Hello.
Man: Hello Vishal.
Me: Ya, who’s this???
Man: It’s me naveen yaar. How was your day at office??
Me: Naveen?? Office??
Man: Naveen B.S. yaar.
I don’t know any Naveen and any office. I get frustrated when I get calls or messages from unknown numbers.
Me: I don’t know any Naveen and about which office are you talking about??
Man: It’s vishal from Wipro right?
Me: No, but who is that Vishal from Wipro? I’m vishal but not Vishal from Wipro. Tell me who that Vishal is.
Man: sorry sir, wrong number.
Me: hello, please tell me who’s that vishal from Wipro? How did you get my number? Please tell me.
He disconnected the call……….

After few days again I received call asking for same Wipro vishal. Seems it was Suresh who had called.
Yesterday again I received a wrong call. From Pawan. Pawan from Airtel. But again asking for the same Vishal from Wipro.
Arrey who’s that Wipro Vishal? Why am I getting his call? What’s his number? How did they get my number? Still finding answers to these questions.

My days in hostel

Hello readers.

I don't know how many of you'll have stayed in hostel. For all who haven't stayed in hostel, I think I should share my experience.

I had selected Engineering in Bangalore's GSSIT. So I'd to leave my hometown. Our tenant in Karwar, Govind was studying in the same college. So he had booked a room for me in the same hostel.
It was Sept 11 2006, when the classes began. But I first went to hostel on 12th, a day later. Its not exactly a hostel. It’s a PG. Only accommodation. No food facilities. Had to go out to hotel for food.
I met the PG owner Mr.Kabaadi. Full Name. Mr P.G.Kabaadi. Verry funny, His initials are P.G. and he owns PG. Govind came and told us that he had a room for me. I was happy. He took us to a room. It was a 2-bed room.
Readers, what are the minimum requirements to call an area as a room???
Yes it should be spacious.
But something that’s not spacious can also be called as a room.
Yes a room should have 4-strong walls with a window and a door.

But that room neither had 4 walls nor a window. And the door, a sliding door. Actually for the first time I mistook it as a window. It had only 1 stong wall rest of the walls were made if aluminium and light-weighed ply-wood.( I hope you’ll can imagine it). It was dark inside. Kabaadi came to us, switched on the light and said, Its-a-beautiful-spacious-room. The room was neither beautiful nor spacious. It was not a room also.;-). And more over all kabaadi told that Govind would be my room mate. This was what I didn’t want. I didn’t want our tenant to be my room mate. Anyway I got a reason to reject the room.
Then the warden-cum-watchman, Ram Singh, a nepali, took me to another building. It was a 3-bed-room. It was a decent room. 4-strong walls, a big cupboard, 2 windows and a strong wooden door. I selected that room. A cot was empty and I kept my bag on it. Ram Singh told that my room mates were from RVCE. They weren’t in room. So I locked the room and went out.
It was nearly 7.30pm when I entered the room. A boy was sleeping on one of those cots. I took his book which was kept on his table to know his name. His name was Milind. I thought of waking him and introduce myself to him so that he doesn’t think that some thief has entered the room.
Me: Milind… Milind…
He doesn’t react.
Me: (again) Milind…. (slowly I went close to him, kept hand on his shoulder) milind………
Milind: ummmm?????
Me: Hi, I’m Vishal. Your new room mate.
Milind: What should I do???
I was shocked. Didn’t expect that reply from him.
Sat in my bed. After a while, Milind woke up. He apologized for what he did. Then he told me that his temper would rise if anyone disturbed his sleep. Then came my another room mate, suresh. Suresh and milind were school mates. Both were familiar with hostel life. I spoke to me nicely. I didn’t wanted to spend much time with them, 1st day itself.

Well that was a memorable day. Even after 4 years I remember everything clearly.
Will post some more sweet memories some day. Till then have a great day. Bye;-)

When my cell was seized, our principal called me a terrorist.

Hello readers. They say Records are meant to be broken. But we say rules are meant to be broken. We all break some or the other rules. It might be traffic rules, college rules or hostel rules. For breaking the college rules once I was called a terrorist by our principal, Dr. Govindaraju. Ya, I was called a terrorist at college. I was also told that I should be hanged. In this post I’ll tell you’ll the story why I was called a terrorist and why I should be hanged. How did I break the rules? Read it...
I remember it was 8th of November 2008. I was in 5th semester of my engineering. I was giving my D.S.P. lab internals. Actually the internals was conducted a week ago. Since I’d been to my native, I was not able to give the test and the test was rescheduled for me with others who were absent on that day. Our lab-in charge Kesthara ma’am asked us to leave our bag outside the lab. We always keep our bags outside the class. The test began and I got an easy experiment. I finished typing and was about to execute the program, when two peons, Suresh and Chandru entered the lab. They said “checking… checking…”. They had come with Mr. Sharrif our college clerk, and our college physical trainer, whom we call as PT Thaata. They had come for checking of cell phones. And I had cell phone in my bag. They asked us to give our bags and co-operate in checking. I’d no other way; I had to give my bag. And PT Thaata found my cellphone in my bag. He seized it…..
I didn’t understand what to do. Follow PT Thaata or complete my internals. I asked Sunil Sindhey sir, he told to go, but I completed the exam and went out. I didn’t know where to go. I went downstairs, to AC lab. My friends where practicing the experiments there. Abdul told me that even Karthik and Vinutha’s cell phones were seized. Was bit relaxed to know that I’d partners in crime. Also came to know that my phone was taken to the Princy’s chamber. I went there. I got the information from clerk Manjula that all the seized cell phones were on princy’s table and told me to get into the chamber. I entered princy’s chamber for the 1st time and that too for a wrong reason.
I entered. First thing I saw on the table was my nokia6600 handset. Then I saw Karthik, Vinutha standing in front of the principal. Even Soujanya, Menaka and couple of juniors were there. Princy was firing everyone. I’d folded my hands, my head was down, with a sad face. In short I was acting to e innocent. I was not standing with my friends. I was standing separately. Princy looked at me, he didn’t know that I’d gone there for my cell phone.

Princy: Yes? (Politely).

Me: Sir… Sir, My cell phone……

Princy: yes, where’s your cell phone? (Angrily).

I pointed at my cell phone and got back to my innocent look.

Princy: oh, even your phone is seized?

Me: yes sir.

Princy: Ayyogyana tandu (useless fellow in Kannada). Why do you people come to college? Its better if you’ll look after the cattle in some village.

I looked at my friends, Karthik, Vinutha, Menaka and Soujanya wanted to laugh at me. But couldn’t...

Me: sir, I was not using the cell phone sir. It was in my bag.

Princy: I don’t want explanation. And all get out of my chamber, I’m sending these cell phones to the university.

All together: sorry sir……

Princy: there’s no matter of asking sorry. And please get out..

A junior girl started crying.

Princy: yes, you don’t cry. I’m helpless. Please go out and send the clerk.

One by one we slowly went out. And sent Manjula in. She come out after a minute. She started to scare us by saying that our phone will be sent to university. The clerks in GSSIT are good for scaring. They need not say any scary things to scare us. By looking at them itself we’ll get scared….
After 5 mins, PT Thaata got into the chamber. don’t know what he spoke there. As soon as he came out, he stared to note our names and USN. We realized that we were in serious trouble. Again we went to manjula saying that we wanted to meet the princy. She asked princy’s permission and told us to get in. I was pushing karthik to get in first and he was pushing me. Vinutha, menaka and soujanya were standing behind us and they were pushing both of us to get in. So both entered.
This time our phones weren’t on the table. I guessed it was kept in cupboard. I was standing right infront of the princy.

Me: sorry sir. We won’t repeat it again.

Karthik: yes sir we’ll never repeat it. We’re sorry.

Other s also apologized.

Princy: (with a smile on his face) You see, again and again I’m telling you. I can’t help you.

Me: sir.. sorry sirrrrrrrrrrrr………

Princy: Do you have any idea what you have done? You are cheated the university. When the the university says not the bring cell phones to college, why do you bring it? You, know you’ll are terrorists. You’ll are ragging the university and ragging is a non-bailable offense. So you’ll should be hanged. .

We wanted to laugh but couldn’t….

Princy: tomorrow you’ll should come with your parents and you’ll will have to pay the fine. Then the management will decide about you. No go to your classes.

Slowly everyone went.

I was ready to pay the fine the fine but didn’t wanted my parents to know what had happened. So after all went out I again asked the princy,

Me: sir I’m a hostel student. Due to security reasons I can’t keep my cellphone in the hostel. So I’d brought it to the class. I never took it out of my bag.

Princy: look I don’t want any explainations. You are coming with your parents tomorrow.

Me: sir, but how can I? I stay in hostel. My parents stay in our native. 600kms away from here. How can they come here?

Princy: if you want your phone, they have to come here tomorrow.

I cursed myself for speaking to him individually and came out. But we did’t go to class. We were standing outside the office room. Then manjula came to us and said us to write an apology letter. A and karthik wrote it thinking that we were going to get our cellphones. Vinutha, soujanya and menaka also wrote. I think I’d written the biggest apology letter ever. My apology letter was of two and a half pages.;-).
We wanted to give the letter to the princy. So we went to manjula. She said that he is having his lunch. We went again after half an hour, she said that he is having rest. We went for the third time, she said that he’s having fruits.
Then at 3.30pm again we went to her. The princy called us. We gave him our apology letters. He collected all the letters and gave it to manjula. And told her to file it.

Princy: your names are now backlisted. If we send it to the university you’ll wont get your degree certificates.

All together: sorry sir we won’t repeat it again.

Princy: ok, tomorrow come with your parents, pay the fine and take your phones back.

Finally we were going to get our cell phones back.

Me: sir what should I do? How to call my parents?

Even Menaka, Vinutha and Soujanya were with same doubt. Actually Vinutha had planned to say that her dad was out of station.

Princy: you’ll get a letter from your parents.

Me: sir, it will take 2-3days to get the letter. Call I ask my parents to call you?

Princy: No, take your phone after 2-3days. No calling business. We know how tricky you are. You’ll might ask your friends to call saying that its your father….. you do one thing. You tell your father to send a fax.

We agreed and came out of his chamber. So, it was me, menaka, soujanya and vinutha who had to get the fax. Karthik had to call his father. Actually even vinutha had to call but she’d told that her dad has gone to Tumkur.
I came back to our hostel. Decided not to hide anything , so told my parents all that had happened that day. That told that he’ll send a fax. I felt bad because this was the first time I made my parents ask sorry.

Next day soon after theclass I and Karthik went to the officeroom. I asked Madhu(another clerk) whether there was any Fax? He said yes there was one but cannot identify who has sent it. I asked him to show it. There was nothing on the paper. Could see only couple of dotted lines. I juat took it and went to princy’s chamber.
Princy: yes?

Me: sir, I got the fax.

Princy: yes give it.

I gave.

Princy: yenri Idu???(What is this?) There’s nothing on it.
Me: sir my father sent it, but the fax machine in our college has no ink to print the text. This was what I got here. You can ask the clerk sir.

Princy: ok. You pay the fine and take you cell phone.
I came out of his chamber happily.

Meanwhile manjula was speaking in a phone call. Karthik’s friend had called saying that it was his dad. He asked manjula to divert the call to the princy. Manjula asked princy. He told not to divert and to give away the cell phones.
As soon as we got our cell phones , we saw Vinutha coming with her mom. They went to princy’s chamber and brought back the cell. Even soujanya and menaka got their cell phones back saying that the fax machine isn’t working.
Then I called home saying that I got the phone back. Was surprised to hear that my dad had not faxed the letter. Felt happy that I didn’t make my dad write an apology letter.
I never took my cell to college there after.

My experience of kerala trip 4(b)

Cntd.

We stopped in a place for lunch. After our lunch we began our journey again and within 15 mins our tyre got punctured. We had to get down. Luckily there was a house there and we all went and sat there. Pandey was helping the driver and the cleaner to get the tyre ready. Kala and jayashree were playing with stones. Abdul joined them saying that it was a 'bachcha' game. Chandan, pooja and a few were playing cards. The funniest thing was when the house owner saw us there. I think he didn't understand wat was happening. People playing cards on veranda of his home, few people listening songs and laughing loudly. He came to us and asked something in malayalam. We just showed him our bus. He understood the matter and gave a smile. We replied him with a smile. Well smile has no language.:-). I was tired and i slept.

When i woke up i was sweating badly and bus had stopped to get the puncture patched up. I was 6.30pm. We were supposed to reach calicut by that time. But we were no where close to the beach. Bus started to move. Kusuma sat next to me. We chatted continuously for 3hours. It was 9.30 when we stopped for food. Hotel Saravana bhavan. We were looking at the menu, abdul came running to our table. His face looked like he came there to show something special. Yes there was something special. In the hotel menu, there was an item called 'jai kuruma'. We began saying jai to tease kusuma.:). After the food, i slept off and we reached calicut at 2am. When i woke up chandan started complaining that i didn't give him enough place to sleep.:).

We were late, so we had to go to a bigger lodge which was expensive. We got a big room. It was a 4 bed room. I, scary, chandan and karthik decided to stay together. It was already 3am and our business boy Scary was watching business channel CNBC. We scolded him and told him to sleep. My bed and scary's bed was attached.

Nearly at 4.30pm I felt that something was on my body. I was feeling a weight of 40-50kgs on my body. When i opened my eyes i saw it was scary who was hugging me and sleeping. I didn't understand what to do. I just pushed him to his bed and slept.

...End of day 4:-). Travelled a lot.

My experience of kerala trip 4(a)

23rd march.
6am.

It was 6am when i opened my eyes. Everyone was sleeping in our room. Except ananth. Ananth was watching tv. He was watching some hindi channel. I and ananth have one thing in common. We both like old hindi songs. Then Karthik got up. He was surprised to see me awake. Because he knew that i was playing till late night. Uttam and prem were still sleeping. I disturbed their sleep. Then i went to the other room. Vishwa and kiran were still sleeping.

Everyone had their bath and we went to have our breakfast. Abdul got a new name. #halalcut.

We began our journey. We went to Periyar park. Paid a heavy entrance fee. On the way we saw some deers. We thought it was a dense jungle and were surprised to see people cycling there. Then we reached a place where few vehicles were parked. There was a big tortoise shaped shop. I thought it was going to be a safari like thing. But the driver told to get down. Seriouly i was scared to get down. I thought the animals might attack us.:). After all What's there in watching animals, We've watched lot of animals:-) Then i guessed that we had to go on van or so (to safari).

When we got down, there were no animals other than monkeys. Everyone adviced me to be careful of monkeys because few monkeys had attacked me couple of days back.:) We started walking. We were feeling like we were lost-in-jungle. Didn't know what to do there. Photo session was going on. Then we came to know that this was not the jungle where the animals were. We had go on boat to watch the animals. And animal watching would begin from 11.30am. We did not want to waste our time. We decided to go back. While walking back we saw a big log there. Seriouly it was very big log. Mostly trunk of a tree which was over 100years old. Vishwa and ranjini went and sat on it first. And Then everyone sat. Girish and maheshwari captured the photos. We were looking like a toy train.:).

Then one of thie guide there told about elephant park nearby. We decided to go there. We had to pay Rs.250/head for an elephant ride. I thought it was foolishness to pay 250bucks for an elephant ride. I stayed in the bus. Karthik, scary, abdul, ananth, maheshwari and vijayalakshmi also decided not to go. We were listening songs and chatting in the bus. Abdul and scary went on a walk. There were a few coffee plants nearby. I and vijayalakshmi went there. For the first time i'd seen coffee seeds:-). Everyone got down and we went to see what was going on in the elephant park. As soon as we neared the entrance of the park we heard sound of elephants coming near us. I just turned to my right, it was a big elephant. Just 10m away from me. First i got scared. Then i saw a mahout next to it. And kiran, pooja and girish were sitting on it.. They were on an elephant ride. Another elephant followed it. It was carrying prem, uttam and menaka. We took few snaps with the elephants.

We then decided to go to the spice garden. Heard that there was a tree house in that garden. We wanted to see it. The owner of the garden was our guide's friend. So paid the entrance fee and entered the garden. An old man joined us. He started explaining about those plants and garden in english. After 5mins i realized that he was the garden guide. He was irritating us. He had characters of lecturers RR sir and Earesh in him. In short he had an art-of-boring-people. We were eager to see the tree house. I was guessing that treehouse would look like tarzan/mougly's home. Then he should something made of 10-15k wooden slabs joined between 4 trees, and told us that it was a treehouse. Everyone was frustrated. I was feeling like hitting him.:). He showed rubber tree and some medicinal herbs. Slowly everyone started running away from him. We wanted to get out of the garden as early as we could. Then we saw a black myna there. Kiran sat next to it and started imitating its sound.:)
.

Next we were in a big confusion. As planned we had to go to Waynad. But everyone wanted to go to beach. We didn't know which beach was nearest. Our driver suggested to calicut beach. So we began our journey to calicut. Everyone wanted to see calicut beach, but i wanted to see calicut. Our plan was to reach calicut by 6pm and to play in the beach for a while and leave to waynad. I knew that calicut was far from kumily. And we were not going to reach there on time. But i stayed quiet because i didn't want to upset them. We started playing in the bus. This time we decided to play truth-or-dare. It was great fun. All those who chose 'dare' entertained a lot. Even i chose 'dare'. First ranjini told me to act like kannada hero kashinath. I did it. And then kala told me to do a mono acting. And the concept was that i was proposing Reddy sir's daughter. Did that too.

My experience of kerala trip 3 (yet to add pics)

I'm continuing this story after a year and a half. All is well. Except 'scary'/sharath. He passed away on 25th november 2009. May his soul rest in peace. We miss you scary.

Cntd.
22 March.
5:00 am

It was 5am when i got up. Both Scary and Karthik were sleeping. It was very dark outside. So i didn't go out. When i went out it was 6am. It was chilling outside. I was amazed to see tea estate all around. Everything around was green. It gave me a i-am-in-heaven experience. Girish was standing on the next building and was capturing some snaps. I went to the terrace top to watch the sunrise. Chandan joined me there. Girish took our titanic-styled-photo. And we called it dostana-titanic. Everyone was standing on the balcony, waiting for the sunrise. But Kiran was still sleeping. Everyone(except kiran) started to scream when the sun started to rise. And the tea estate was looking even more beautiful.

After watching sunrise i got a shocking news. The news was that there was no hot water. So we had to bath in cold chilling water. Believe me, the water was as cold as fridge water. Kiran was still sleeping. So i jumped on him and woke him (even a dead body will come alive if jump on it). I then had a cup of coffee and joined pandey, uttam and ananth who were downstairs. Then took my luggage and kept it in the bus as soon as possible. Because i wanted the window seat.:-).

We began our journey from there and were nearing Munnar. There was a power generation plant which was similar to the one i saw in film Swades. Then we reached Munnar. Had our breakfast there. I had AalooParota. We took some snaps there and continued our journey.

No one among us had been to Munnar before. So we decided to hire a a guide. He stopped our bus near a tea estate to take snaps. Few tried to go to tea estate. But The guide promised us to take us to another tea estate and took us to a dam. It was a beautiful place. Speed boating was going on in the reservoir. So my friends decided to join them. I'd promised my dad that i-wouldn't-step-into-water. So i didn't join them and stayed in the bus. Karthik, pandey and Scary also stayed with me in the bus. Karthik purchased some gifts and i purchased carrots. Took couple of snaps holding bunches of carrots. After few minutes friends who had been to boating returned. They saw carrot in my hand. And everyone purchased it. We took funny snaps holding carrot leaves.

From there we went to echopoint. Nothing special in that place. Just we could hear the echo. But we made that place special. We were teasing abdul saying that if we scream his name, we would get x8 echos. I was screaming very loudly. We were screaming yentu, kuruma, kg, and we were getting good echo. Then everyone screamed MLA. Guess wat, the echo sounded M.A.(emme means buffalo in kannada). Some purchased chocolates. Menaka and Abdul gave me chocolates.

We went to another small dam before going to TopStation. As soon as we reached Topstation, i received an sms from vodafone. Saying Welcome-to-vodafone-tamilnadu. Then i asked the guide, he said that TopPoint belonged to Tamilnadu. From Toppoint we had to walk to reach the viewpoint. Guess what? We had to say Rs.15 to go there. Means Rs.15 to walk.:). We had to walk downwards for a kilometer or so. It was a beautiful place there. Nice cool breeze and mountains all around. In fact they were tea estate which belonged to TATA. The worst part began when we started to return. We had to step upwards. I and pandey reached early. Vishwa, kiran, ranjini, jayanti and kusuma were way back. I was sweating badly. It was cloudy. We reached our bus before it started raining. As promised earlier guide took us to a tea estate. Had not been to tea estate before. Took few snaps there. And returned to Munnar town. It was 5pm by then and everyone had their lunch. Ya.. Lunch @ 5:-). Then we left to Thekady. I was sitting next to Maheshwari. Was suprised to see that she had maintained a tour diary. She was noting some things. The road was very bad. But when began our anthakshari and dumbshrards, we didn't realise about bad roads. vinuta didn't join us. So she might be knowing about that bad road. Pooja was always a helpline. She wouldn't join any team. because if there's Lay's wafers pack in her hand she's out of the world.:-) We were tired. So everyone was silent. Kiran couldn't sit quiet so he took an empty bottle and threw on kusuma. And kusuma threw it back on him. And they began playing with empty bottles.:). By the time we reached kumily it was 10.30pm and we were 4km away from Thekady. Many wanted to have non-veg. So we went to a Halalcut non-veg hotel.:) all the items were made of coconut oil. So it was tasting different. Girish&co. stayed on fruits that day. By the time we had our food Girish had booked a lodge nearby. We continued our dumbshrards. And played till 1.30am. (Abdul showing mrugalaya entertained all). Everyone was tired and we decided to call it a day.. So it was end of day3 of our trip. One of the Most beautiful days of my life.
